چکیده

Conceptual modelling for information systems design is to a large extent about describing and prescribing the actions and interactions of agents in organizations. Thus, rules, regulations, organizational roles and other institutional aspects become key notions for conceptual modelling. While modellers may intuitively take these notions into account when creating conceptual models, it would be valuable also to take a more systematic and methodical approach to institutional aspects in the modelling activity. As a first step to such a method, this paper proposes a set of guidelines that support a modeller in identifying classes in a domain model starting from an analysis of the institutional aspects of the domain. The guidelines build on an institutional ontology that describes key notions of institutions, including actors, rules, rights, contracts, and processes.

Opinion-aware information management : statistical summarisation and knowledge representation of opinions

Nowadays, an increasing amount of media platforms provide the users with opportunities for sharing their opinions about products, companies or people. In order to support users accessing opinion-based information, and to support engineers building systems that require opinionaware reasoning, intelligent opinion-aware tools and techniques are needed. This thesis contributes methods and technolog...

A conceptual model for context-sensitive interactions based on primitive contexts

This paper describes a conceptual model for reasoning about context. The concepts introduced here may be applied in designing context-aware services and modelling contextsensitive interactions between context-aware systems. We introduce the concept of “primitive context” as the basic context abstraction. The concept of “primitive context” effectively captures the notion of “context” and provide...

Time, Place and Environment: Can Conceptual Modelling improve Context-Aware Recommendation?

Recommendation refers to the automatic process of discovering and suggesting new but relevant items to users, according to the preferences inferred from their previous activity. But, not only the items or their content are related to the user preferences but also the context in which the user have consumed the items. In this regard, the so-called context-aware recommenders refer to the systems ...

Categorization and Modelling of Quality in Context Information

Pervasive Computing environments are dynamic and heterogeneous. They are required to be self-managing and autonomic, demanding minimal user’s guidance. In pervasive computing, contextaware adaptation is a key concept to meet the varying requirements of different clients. In order to enable context-aware adaptation, context information must be gathered and eventually presented to the application...
